Cleveland Clinic says confusion is sometimes associated with UTIs in adults 70 and older, but that a UTI may bring none, and confusion may point at something else entirely. An active infection is treated with antibiotics.</div></details><details><summary>Why do UTIs get more common after menopause?</summary><div class="acv-a">Mayo Clinic says circulating estrogen drops during perimenopause and menopause, which changes the bacteria normally found in the vagina and raises the risk. The NIDDK lists having gone through menopause as a risk factor as well.</div></details><details><summary>Can men get urinary tract infections?</summary><div class="acv-a">Yes. The NIDDK says anyone with a bladder can develop a bladder infection, and that men under age 50 rarely get them. A blockage such as an enlarged prostate or a kidney stone changes that, so one in an older man is worth investigating.</div></details><details><summary>What should I do about repeat infections?</summary><div class="acv-a">Bring the pattern, not one episode. The NIDDK says about a quarter of women who get a bladder infection will have repeat infections.
